ASIAN KITCHIN

"Cooking Theater" dealing with Asian food. Written by up-and-coming playwrights in their 20s - 30s, these short plays will feature performers who are Tokyo residents hailing from Asian cities. In the foyer of Small Hall 2, local ethnic restaurants will be selling take-out Asian food.

Akito Inui - Leader of Tetsuwari Albatrossket/ Director, Writer and Actor
Akito Inui

Inui launched the performing group, "Tetsuwari Albatrossket" in Nezu, Tokyo in 1997. Their performances are ranged from Rakugo, Joruri, Blues, Punk, marginalperformance, Party stunt to classical performing arts and they go beyond the limits of theatricals. Apart from theater, Inui wrote his novel "Mazui Soup" which was nominated to the 141st Akutagawa Award in 2009.

Hideto Iwai - Leader of Hi-Bye/ Playwright, Director and Actor
Hideto Iwai

Born in Koganei-shi, Tokyo in 1974. Launched a theatrical company called Hi-Bye in 2003. Since then Iwai has written and produced the company's all works including the most popular ones such as "Hicky Cancun Tornado," "Onegai Hokago" and "Te."
He captured his theatrical inspiration from his own seclusive school days, materializing it into his comedies that are often described "realistic, yet full of humor."

Shuji Onodera-Leader of Company Derashinera/ Director
Shyuji Onodera

Onodera started studying pantomime in Japan mime studio. He launched Performance Theater Mizu to Abura in 1995 and he directed all the works of the company. He won the Herald Angel Award in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2001. In 2003, he also won the Shuji Terayama's award in the 2nd Asahi Performing Arts Festival. In 2006, he temporarily stopped his activities and stayed in Paris for a year as a trainee of Japanese Government Overseas Study Program for Artists.
After he returned to Japan, he launched Company Derashinera.His representative works are "A Man Fallen Into a Void", "Fugue X", "A Woman's House" and etc. He also works as choreographer.

Yudai Kamisato - Leader of OKAZAKI ART THEATRE/ Playwright and Producer
Yudai Kamisato

Born in Lima, Peru in 1982. In 2003 launched OKAZAKI ART THEATRE and won the Best Directors Prize in the 7th Toga Drama Directors Competition for "Desire Caught by the Tail"written by Pablo Picasso. In 2009, he joined showcase by 6 directors in Komaba Agora Theater and performed "Guanari~many~time"in"Kirenakatta 14 sai returns"project. Kamisato is characterized in his directing actors harmoniously applying both sharp and swift and relaxed motions of them.
His other representative works are "Five days in March" (written by Toshiki Okada), "Three Siblings of Rhythm" (written by Yudai Kamisato) and "The Cenci" (written by Antonin Artaud) and etc.

Takahiro Natsui - Leader of reset-N. Representative of massigla lab./ Playwright and Director
Takahiro Natsui

Born in Goto, Nagasaki in 1972. Since he launched his company reset-N in 1995, Natsui has directed all the company's performances. In 1999, he won the new dramatist award with "Knob" in the 4th Japan Playwright Association contest. Also his work "Reimei" was played in London in English in 2001. In 2006 he had his collaboration with a French group played in Tokyo and Marseille, followed by the studying in France with the Japanese government scholarship for younger artists. He is actively working not only on his original works but on stage productions of overseas novels.
His other works are "Pens?e", "Lightning" and "Awake For Sleep".

Kazuhiro Nishimura - Leader of Salad Ball and Director for Seinendan/ Director
Kazuhiro Nishimura

Born in Hyogo in 1973 and graduated Kagawa University. He joined Daisan Erotica as an actor in 1999. He performed in "Nippon Wars", "Collection of modern Noh plays" and etc. In 2002, he launched Salad Ball with other actors whom he had met in the workshop by Unique Point. He left Daisan Erotica in 2003 joined Seinendan as a director in 2005. He started up some projects for young artists and he has been working for external theatrical company as a director.
He rebuilds modern colloquial plays from the point of view of a director and his direction is famous for its precision and bold approach to peculiar scripts.

Seiji Nozoe -Leader of Haegiwa/ Playwright, Director and Actor
Seiji Nozoe

Born in Okayama in 1975. He grew up in United States until when he was 8 years old. He launched the theatrical unit "Haegiwa" when he was a student at Aoyama Gakuin University and the unit became professional theatrical group in 2001. He writes and directs all works for Haegiwa. His works has unique sense of humor and bold direction by his peculiar sensibility. He directed some foreign works such as "Streetcar named desire", "Ugly man" and "Queen Media". He is also working as a writer for visual works and performing as an actor.
